Overview

My Impact

Strategy

At Verifacto, I aimed to innovate using a blue ocean strategy, resulting in a unique value proposition. Google's subsequent launch of "Circle to Search" validated my approach.

Human-Centric

Focused on research by interviewing 16 users and conducting SWOT analysis, surveys, card sorting, tree testing, and prototype testing.

Competitive

Led ideation sessions and secured unanimous support from over 40+ designers and educators for the best concept to address problem space.

Problem

The internet is a fascinating place. With over 5.35 billion users worldwide, it generates about 15.87 terabytes daily. On average, people spend 2.71 hours online, encountering over 74 gigabytes of information daily, equivalent to 16 movies. Given this vast sea of data, how can individuals discern truth from falsehood and make informed decisions efficiently?

Major Obsticles

Problem

One of the biggest challenges with Verifacto was that the swipe gesture navigation features were not intuitive for users.

Solution

Prototype testing revealed navigation issues, with tree testing confirming showing a 45% success rate for one gesture and 0% for another.

Impact

Researched popular apps for familiar gestures and used intuitive icons, inspired by Don Norman, boosting navigation success from 69% to 95%.

Problem

User interviews revealed two key issues: "big data paralysis"and bias in data selection, hindering the discovery of opposing viewpoints.

Solution

AI to summarize articles, helping users manage information overload and browse diverse perspectives with a new swipe gesture feature.

Impact

Features allowed for quickly verifying information and gaining a balanced perspective, addressing key pain points.

Problem

Distrust online sources, which can hinder decision-making and create anxiety about global issues, leading to conflicts among friends and family.

Solution

Keyboard extension that connects users to credible third-party resources and simplifies sharing articles to support arguments with reliable sources.

Impact

Improve decision-making. Help loved ones stay informed. Highlight and search for credible information within any app!

Next Steps!

Verifacto redesign, including a full-screen view that allows users to swipe the tab bar up for more screen space and better workflow.

Enhancements on article summaries. Improve the information architecture of these features to increase readability. 

New feature, Perspective Explorer! This tool helps combat biases and echo chambers by encouraging users to explore new viewpoints .
